Apparently they were having system wide problems with their Internet system & their internal phone systems (e.g.: Frontier Internet support phone system was not working - could not get a human on the line), and were receiving a high volume of calls about the same problem that I posted above. I just came in from playing in the snow, tried chrome, and had no problem getting to web sites. So at this point, I will assume that the problem was with Frontier & their inability to consistently & correctly resolve host names to IP addresses.
